FPSO with dynamic moorings
Follow vessel motion and mooring tension together as a floating system responds to a short surge pulse.
How do a vessel and its moorings move together?
What you can model
A floating vessel connects to four discretized mooring lines through eccentric fairleads. The vessel diagram identifies its body axes and attachment locations. In the animation, the initially slack lines settle under submerged weight while a synthetic surge pulse excites the coupled vessel-and-line system.
What you can explore
Compare surge and heave with the fairlead-tension histories. Use the animation to relate changes in line shape to the motion and forces in the plots. Reading them together shows how moving mooring lines exchange load with the floating body during the disturbance.
